BMRN – Immersion / Drift / Accretion / Shift

Boomruboomin or simply BMRN is back with a new album. “Immersion/Drift/Accretion/Shift” marks a new direction for the Devonshire producer. His debut album, “Monochrome” was full of dusty, head nodding beats matched with dark, eerie sound and feel. This his second official full length album, there was a cassette release in between, keeps the dark brooding sound scapes, but now there is shift towards the electronic experimental side of things. Although I loved the heavy beats of the first album, this shift is by no means a bad thing. It seems to have given BMRN the room to experiment more, to take more chances and explore the darker, more ambient, unknown regions of beat music.
If I was to draw comparisons, I would pick artists such as Boards of Canada, Boom Bip (his earlier releases), Odd Nosdam, and so on. It’s a great piece of work and an excellent second album, there is a very limited run of CD with fantastic artwork, or you can get the download via bandcamp. Don’t sleep on this, it’s too good to be missed.

Boomruin/BMRN – Monochrome

boomruinFor regular readers, you will know all here at The Left Hand Side are big fans of UK beat maker Boomruin/BMRN.
Now it is great news that his 2012 digital album, “Monochrome” has been release on limited edition cassette via US label I Had An Accident Records.
The album is a fantastic journey through heavy, dusty beats, moody electronics, and classic boom bap hip hop. Instrumental hip hop at it’s best, and this cassette release is really something special, if you can get hold of one.

Boomruin – Landmass EP

Boomruin, as featured on this blog in the past, has released his new ep “Landmass”. Again he comes with moody, atmospheric beats, I would say the ep has more of an electronic sound to his debut album, which is no bad thing. Sorry to keep this short and sweet, but I’m pushed for time and wanted to give this a mention.
Check it out here…

Boomruin – At A Time video

After reading my review, Boomruin chucked me over the video to “At A Time”, and it’s certainly looking good. Nice animation from Connection Media Design. Check it out…

Boomruin/BMRN

Over the recent months I have tracked a lot of excellent music via facebook and bandcamp, Boomruin , BMRN for short, is one finest examples of my findings.
This is one for the beat heads, perfect winter time headphone music. extremely atmospheric, mixing orchestral samples,  spoken word, electronic beeps and basslines, all with dusty, dark, moody, heavy drums, just how we like them!
My personal favourite track, or at least one of them, has to be At A Time. This mixes all the albums elements perfectly together in one short but effective track. You need to check out this out, and the best part is…it’s free! But feel free to donate some pounds, its well worth it!
