He mixed Worldwide Awards winner Melanie De Biasio, worked extensively with The Lumineers, string arrangements for Shawn Mendes, Lenny Kravitz and Michael Jackson. “The Steps” is the first in a series of releases for Here & Now Records and features singer Simi Stone. The track is a ethereal, cinematic soundscape that floats lightly over you, seeping into your mind and soul. “The Steps was inspired by a fantasy. The mysterious feeling of walking on ancient steps – ascending towards the sky. Simi’s voice represents the yearning from the cold blue sky as you get higher.”
Definitely the perfect track for those mellow moments and we look forward to hearing what else Baron has in store. Out now on Here & Now Records.

The Dandelion Set – A Thousand Strands

The Dandelion Set is a new CD LP covercollaboration between Glyn ‘Bigga’ Bush (Lightning Head, Rockers Hi Fi) and PK Chown (James Beige, Mr Liquorice). Their debut album ” A Thousand Strands” is a heady mix of krautrock, library music, psychedelic folk, electronica and more and even features cult hero Alan Moore on vocals!
In places the album captures the whimsical psychedelia of Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, but easily takes darker turns, leading into sparse, unnerving, dystopian landscapes, then quickly flashing back to more groovier sounds.
“A Thousand Strands” is a must for anyone with an interest in early electronica, freaked out library music and funky beats. Released on CD, LP, cassette and download each with a unique combination of tracks, this is well worth picking up. Out April 22nd on Buried Treasure Records, keep your ears and eyes open!

True Deceiver – True Deceiver

td

True Deceiver is the new project from lo-fi beatsmith Cars & Trains. The man himself had this to say –
“True Deceiver is something I’ve wanted to do for years: heavy, baritone guitar driven music sitting on a bed of electronic sludge and melodies, inspired by long time favourites like Godflesh, My Bloody Valentine, and Killing Joke. It’s all totally out of my comfort zone and I’m really excited to share it with you, finally.”
This is an excellent mix of shoe gazer, post rock, shoe gazer, drone, guitar lead music that is definitely worth a listen. Available now for free download!

Shinobi Cuts – Toastboat Ninjatune Forum Remix Chain

The first toastpost of 2015 goes to the new remix project on Shinobi Cuts.

The track then goes through 12 remixes, including one from our very own LongDistanceDan, until it is reworked for the final time again by Koch. Each remix takes the track to new places and remix takes it own form, creating something unique, interesting and entertaining.
