Aspects – Kings’ English

Tonight sees the launch party for Aspects third full length album, “The Left Hand Path”. To celebrate they have dropped a brand new mixtape, “Kings English”. chopped and screwed by the Printers Devil, it’s a mix of funky, electronic beats, garage rock samples, old skool hip hop and more. All topped off with acapella’s from the new album, although some of the vocals sound like they have been re-recorded for the mix.
It’s nice to hear the vocals in a different context, it seems to give them a slightly darker feel, but it’s always good hearing these Bristol b-boys getting funky over a David Bowie beat.
Now go get downloading and while you are at it grab yourself a copy of “The Left Hand Path”, you’ll feel better for it. Oh and see you tonight!

Raw On The Floor

Here is a new mix from LongDistanceDan for the Amen Brother Podcast series. Mixing up psyched out, electronic, hip hop and beats all firmly aimed at the dance floor. Watch out for more live DJ sessions alongside the Amen Brother crew at The Castle, London in the near future. In the mean time, have some of this!

Pete sasQwax – Herbie Goes Bananas Mix

Good friend of TLHS, Mr Pete SasQwax unleashed a new mix just before christmas entitled Herbie Goes Bananas. As the man himself puts it, “The Herbie in question is not a small, iconic, German automobile but is, instead, the slightly taller, infinitely more impressive on the keys, Herbert Hancock. The beats = all dusty crusty classics you should have heard a thousand times before; the music = all elements of Herbie Hancock tracks (let’s face it, there’s an INSANE amount of stuff to go at). I diced up beats & melodies, added a stack of my favourite accapellas and here it is.”

Check it out people, you won’t regret it!
