About

Dan Larkin aka LongDistanceDan, has been involved in the music business for some time now. Starting off working at DJ Vadim’s seminal record label Jazz Fudge Recordings, he helped with releases by artists such as Killa Kela, Dark Circle, Kid Acne, Phi Life Cypher and more. After Jazz Fudge, Dan went on to work for Necessary Records whos roster included pop/indie band Hard-Fi and catchy noise merchants Distophia.
Whilst working for labels Dan was also DJing at many different bars, clubs, and even a few festivals in London and around the country.
Dan has never lost interest and never stopped trying to push and promote new interesting and independent artists. He curated the compilations Twisting The Frame 1 & 2 for the now sadly defunct Myuzyk net label. Both albums were free to download (before everyone was at it), and included tracks from the likes of WrongTom, 2Tall aka Om Unit, Buddy Peace, Aupheus and more. You can now download them via the Dusted Industries bandcamp page.
More recently Dan has got back into making his own music, providing vocals and producing tracks of his own, as well as creating mixes of weird and wonderful music. All this can be heard on his soundcloud and mixcloud pages.
Dan wanted to resurrect The Lefthand Side blog, so he can get back into helping push the music he loves, to give a platform to artists who are too often ignored or overlooked by the mainstream press, but who deserve to be heard.
Although the main focus will be on hip hop, beats, electronics and the like, expect to see any genre of music featured here. If it’s good, The Left Hand Side will talk about.
